Black Lives Matter Grassroots is proud to announce the launch of the “Black Women Are Divine” (BWAD) campaign for March 2025, a month-long celebration dedicated to honoring the divinity, strength, and resilience of Black women. This year’s campaign will spotlight 31 remarkable Black women from around the globe, each recognized for their invaluable contributions to their communities and beyond.

Campaign Highlights:

  • Daily Honorees: Throughout March, Black Women Are Divine (BWAD) will feature one Black woman each day across various platforms, sharing their stories, achievements, and the profound impact they’ve made in their respective fields.

  • Community Gatherings: Several BLM Grassroots chapters will host events to honor these divine women with love, support, and celebration. Please visit blmgrassroots.org to check if your city is hosting an Official Black Women Are Divine event.

  • Social Conversations: Every Thursday, we will hold engaging discussions with both current and past honorees, to inspire and educate the broader community. Some of the conversations so far have featured activist Tamika D. Mallory and Bianca Austin (the Aunt of #BreonnaTaylor), and were hosted by our very own Queen YoNasDa, who is also one of our 2024 honorees.

Upcoming Events:

  • March 13, 2025: A special event honoring Breonna Taylor, focusing on her legacy and the ongoing fight for justice.

  • March 27, 2025: An event commemorating Wakiesha Wilson, highlighting the importance of mental health awareness and advocacy within the Black community.

Join the Celebration:

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the BWAD campaign by attending events, sharing stories on social media using the hashtag #BWAD2025 and #BlackWomenAreDivine, and nominating Black women who exemplify divinity and excellence. Nominations can be submitted through the official BLM Grassroots website.

Black Lives Matter Grassroots Stands with Twin Cities

We are grateful for the courage, vision, sacrifice, and power of Black Lives Matter Grassroots Twin Cities lead Chauntyll Allen, courageous comrade Nekima Levy Armstrong, and other principled organizers for their righteous resistance to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) federal invasion and fascist repression in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Rather than submitting to an unparalleled evil that murders mothers in their own vehicles, explodes chemical weapons upon infants, kidnaps and imprisons preschoolers, brutalizes children, separates families, and terrorizes communities, grassroots organizers in the Twin Cities are putting their own bodies, freedom and livelihood on the line to secure community.
