Our hearts are a bit lighter and we join in celebrating a small feeling relief for our Palestinian relatives who have been subjected to what is nothing short of genocide at the hands of a bloodthirsty Israeli regime for more than 400 days. We are not disillusioned. This is not victory. This is not freedom or self-determination for Palestine which can only come from the dismantling of the settler-colonial apartheid state. This piece of peace is also not a gift from Netanyahu, Trump, Biden, or the West. This step comes from the steadfast, life-affirming resistance of the Palestinian people, who have defied the genocidal will of the largest, most corrupt power structures on the earth.
Black Lives Matter Grassroots reaffirms our pledge of unwavering solidarity with the liberation struggle wherever racist oppression and white-supremacist violence rears its head. As the agreed ceasefire begins, we lift up the 47,000+ Palestinian martyrs, particularly those who were slain in the hours between and after the announcement and the implementation of this agreement, amongst our most righteous ancestors. As we continue in our mission of justice for the countless Black lives stolen by white-supremacist militarism, we also see ourselves in the struggles of the Palestinian people and all oppressed people around the world. May the committed work of righteous people pave the way forward for freedom and liberation to be realized.
