Black Lives Matter Grassroots Calls Out Phony Rhode Island Chapter and Their Confirmed “Endorsement” of Trump

Mainstream media’s reports on the story fail the fact-check test as Black Lives Matter Grassroots has a policy of never endorsing candidates and has no Rhode Island Chapter.

Los Angeles, CA – November 5, 2024 – Black Lives Matter Grassroots unequivocally rebukes
the widespread news coverage of a member of our leadership is endorsing the
re-election of former U.S. President Donald Trump. First, Black Lives Matter Grassroots has a strict
and long standing policy that prohibits any endorsements of political candidates. This policy
applies to all thirty-nine chartered chapters as well as the national organization.

Furthermore, Black Lives Matter Grassroots does NOT have a Rhode Island chapter, nor have we ever heard of this person, who some media outlets are presenting as a leader within our organization.

It begs the question – would reputable news organizations legitimize a branch or purported
leader of any other organization without fact checking that information? Why is it acceptable to characterize random attention seekers, activists or system-involved individuals as members of Black Lives Matter without evidence that they are?

No Chapter, leader or member of Black Lives Matter Grassroots is endorsing Donald
Trump in the 2024 election.

The mission of Black Lives Matter Grassroots (BLMGR) is to support, sustain, and uplift the
necessary agitations, mobilizations, community organizing, and initiatives of Black Lives Matter
chapters to fulfill our sacred duty to advance Black liberation. #BlackLivesMatter was birthed to
end state-sanctioned violence against Black people. Black Lives Matter Grassroots is a
collective of 33 chartered chapters globally working on the ground since 2013.

Black Lives Matter Grassroots Has More Chapters Now Than Ever With Fifty-One, Including One in Sweden

Leimert Park, Los Angeles – Black Lives Matter Grassroots now has fifty-one chapters, including three led by imprisoned folks and one in Stockholm, Sweden. The now-international organization, whose mission is to end state-sanctioned violence, convened this past weekend to celebrate twelve years since the founding of the birth of one of the largest racial justice movements in the history of the world and the very first Black Lives Matter chapter on this same spot, Leimert Park (aka Africa Town), the heart of Black Los Angeles. The organization was sprung into being after the murderer of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was acquitted by a legal system that never served Black people.
